Everyone remembers the “expectation/reality” trend? When you have curly hair and go to a regular salon for a color, your chances of a disastrous result increase. But before we get to the storytelling, let’s give you a little background about our episode. Here, the girls (anonymously or not) tell us about their most embarrassing, funny, or unpleasant (or all of the above) beauty stories. And we learn from their personal experiences. Now, let’s get to the story!
Nara, 20 years old
After looking at beautiful pictures on social networks, I decided that I definitely needed bright accents. There was only a week left until the first of September, so it was time to update the image. As they say, new year, new you. I painted for the first time, but that didn’t stop me from choosing several of the most rainbow colors at once: pink, blue and red.
That same evening, I made a deal with the hairdresser and warned him in advance that I had curly hair. But in response, he said that it didn’t matter, everyone was doing make-up on him. The next day, encouraged and inspired, I went to the salon. As expected, the hairdresser first washed her hair, bleached it and combed the strands from root to tip to color them. Everything was going well, I looked in the mirror and already began to dream about how I would conquer my classmates with my new hairstyle.
After about two hours, the master washed his hair for the last time and asked if the curls should be straightened or just dried. I chose the second option to see how the hairstyle would look in its normal form. The girl dried her hair, applied oil and happily said that the result exceeded all expectations. To tell you the truth, I did not expect this. When dried, the curls lay down completely differently. The red color at the roots, which should have turned blue at the ends, ended somewhere in the middle. Pink was not visible at all due to the thickness of the hair. Seeing the happy face of the master, I thanked him and left the salon in tears.
But the failures did not end there. I decided to save the day and read that if you wash your hair three or four times in a row, the paint will wash out. And indeed, the paint was washed out: blue turned into green, red into pink, and pink into yellow. I definitely achieved something; I had a completely new image.
The moral is this: if you are curly, do not dye your hair in regular beauty salons. Dye is applied completely differently to straight and curly hair.
For reference: use a special shampoo with an acidic pH to wash the paint. When interacting with acids, the paint dissolves. And if that doesn’t work, only patience will help.
