In our “Help Situation” section we tell you what to do in case of various beauty incidents. How to fix a broken nail, how to revive dried mascara or how to save broken powder, eye shadow or blush – we will answer one question in each material. Next comes the biggest problem of summer – sunburn. How can I help myself or how do I understand that only a doctor can do this?
Step 1. Go to the shadows
At the first sign of redness or burning on the skin, you need to move away from open sunlight. It is better to hide in the shade or go indoors. If this is not possible, you need to cover the reddened areas with clothing or a towel.
From now on, it is best to limit sun exposure for a few days so that the skin has time to heal.
Step 2: Determine how bad the burn is

There are different degrees of burns, and subsequent treatment depends directly on how badly you were burned.
— First degree burn – redness. However, only the surface layer of the skin is affected. Such a burn passes on average in a few hours or days, depending on the skin type. For treatment, you can use special sedatives.
— Second degree burn – blisters filled with light fluid, high body temperature, peeling of the skin. In this case, your next step will be to go to the doctor. There is no need to apply any independent methods of treatment.
— Third degree burn – blisters with yellow or bloody contents. Such a sunburn is extremely difficult to get, almost impossible. But if this happens, you need to call an ambulance immediately.
Step 3. Cool the burn area
In the case of a second or third degree burn, all subsequent steps are replaced by one step – going to the doctor.
If the burn is accompanied by only redness and burning, the damaged areas of the skin need to be cooled. A cool but not freezing shower (temperature should be between 20-25°C) or an ice pack wrapped in a towel will be sufficient. Cool the skin for 10 minutes. Depending on the severity of the burn, the procedure should be repeated several times.
Step 4. Use a repair product

It is best to apply pharmaceutical cosmetics (for example, Panthenol), products containing extracts of centella asiatica and chamomile, or products containing aloe vera to reddened areas. The latter will not only moisturize and restore the skin, but also cool it, thereby relieving itching and burning.
Step 5: Drink more water
This is necessary to prevent dehydration. When burned, the skin loses moisture, and this can be replenished not only with moisturizing creams, but also by drinking plenty of fluids.
Step 6: Take your temperature
If you have severe pain and fever, you can take painkillers. If the symptoms do not stop, this is a reason to consult a doctor.
Step 7. Continue recovery

The burned areas of the skin should not be exposed to sunlight for a few more days. However, you should and should moisturize regularly. After the redness and swelling subside, peeling will take place – this is a completely normal process. In this case, moisturizers will help speed up the skin’s renewal and bring it back to normal.
Step 8. Use SPF cream
SPF cream is your faithful assistant in protecting against UV rays. Therefore, if you plan to sunbathe, be sure to use a product with an SPF factor of at least 30. In this material, we told you how much cream you should apply and how often you should renew it.
