It seems that a new tennis star is currently being born in Russia – Mirra Andreeva.

Mirra is only 16 years old, but she is already being talked about as the new Maria Sharapova. And all because the young tennis player is advancing at an incredible pace.
Andreeva currently ranks 47th in the list of the strongest tennis players in the world (WTA ranking) and will definitely rise even higher according to the results of the Grand Slam tournament, which is currently being held in Australia.
The Australian Open is one of the four biggest tournaments of the year, where the world’s strongest rackets compete for championships and trophies. And in 2024, Mirra Andreeva has already created many sensations in this regard and became the owner of records.

Mirra, unexpectedly for everyone, defeated one of the favorites, the world’s sixth racket Ons Jabeur, with scores of 0:6 and 0:2 in the second round of the tournament. Following this, the sports world “exploded” with praise and admiration for Mirra.

“It’s a historic moment. Mirra Andreeva defeated Ons Jabeur in two sets.
And today, in a much more dramatic encounter, Mirra managed to win back a match point and turn the game around, eventually defeating Frenchwoman Diane Parry in three sets: 1:6, 6:1, 7:6 (10: 5).
The bookmakers are now predicting that Mirra will place at least sixth in the tournament, which would be an incredible career achievement for the 16-year-old Russian. But of course we support Mirra and believe that she can climb higher.
In the next round of the tournament, Andreeva will play with the winner of the pair S. Hunter (Australia) – B. Krejcikova (Czech Republic).
