Chinese women look young for an incredibly long time, so much so that it seems as if time has no effect on them. Is it just the light gray hair that shows their age unless it’s dyed over? Despite the multitude of brands, Chinese women continue to follow traditional personal care methods. We learned how life hacks the beauties of the Celestial Empire.
Protect your skin from the sun

Today in China you can often see not only women, but also men wearing bizarre full-face beach masks with slits for eyes, nostrils and mouth – facekini means “face bikini”. Of course, no one is trying to scare anyone else, it just helps the Chinese protect their skin from the sun and the stings of jellyfish, which are quite abundant on the coast. Face skirts are made of elastane, lycra, microfiber and other elastic fabrics that prevent the penetration of skin-aging ultraviolet rays.
In ancient times, Chinese women were no less scrupulous, so they tried not to leave the house without a sun umbrella. Especially wealthy ladies could afford whitewash based on rice starch, which brightened the skin. It was applied only after a cream made from tea oil, animal fat and fruit tincture. The acids in fruits and berries also contained bleaching components. It was difficult (and according to etiquette it was not allowed) to show strong emotions, since a thick layer of dust froze on the face, like a mask. As a result, the aristocrat had fewer facial wrinkles on his skin.
Wash your face with rice water

Even in ancient times, the Chinese particularly valued the whiteness and purity of the skin. They achieved this in different ways. One of these is to wash the rice with the remaining water after rinsing. In addition to its brightening effect, rice starch is also rich in active ingredients that are beneficial to the skin. For example, the phytic acid found in rice prevents the appearance of age spots and acne, while allatonin helps heal minor wounds and relieve inflammation. Ferulic acid not only blocks the penetration of UV rays, but also saturates the skin with vitamins C and E. And of course, rice water is a natural peeling for the face. Rice starch gently cleans dead skin cells thanks to its finely dispersed structure.
Do natural makeup

Surprisingly, a wide range of Chinese (often low-quality) cosmetics is not in such high demand in the domestic market. The fact is that Chinese women love homemade masks and natural makeup much more, unlike the predatory “Russian” with red lips and smoky eyes. In movies we can see heroines being cleverly decorated, but in life girls are more prone to naturalness. They work on the principle of the less the better. The fact is that there are many adherents of traditional medicine even among the contemporaries of the Celestial Empire. Therefore, before applying make-up, a Chinese woman can take a steam bath or wipe her face with decoctions based on herbs, berries and roots. In everyday life, a Chinese woman wears only slightly lined eyes, arrows and lip gloss. Natural ones include essential oils, seaweed, pearl powder and herbs.
Drink your tea cold

Drinking tea in ancient China was a complete ceremony, since the drink itself was considered sacred and was used by Buddhists during various rituals (for example, wakefulness). And today you can notice a respectful attitude towards tea. It is not customary to drink it with sugar and milk (sometimes you can snack on fruit or honey). It was important for the Chinese to taste the taste and aroma of the mixture. After all, a particular variety has its own characteristics. Most often, green tea is preferred, which is always drunk chilled. It is believed that the drink retains its beneficial properties in this form. It is known that tea speeds up metabolism, helps you lose extra weight and helps fight cholesterol, which is especially useful for type II diabetes. Green tea infusion contains vitamins C, P, B, K, PP. It also helps slow down aging, eliminates bad breath and stimulates dopamine (happiness hormone) production. The polyphenols in green tea also prevent the development of Alzheimer’s syndrome and Parkinson’s disease, in addition to helping fight cancer. Oolong, pu-erh and red teas with the addition of goji berries, astragalus flowers and jasmine are also beneficial for beauty and health.
Add seaweed to your diet

In general, moderation is observed not only in personal care but also in nutrition. For example, the Chinese prefer to eat rice without any salt to prevent it from accumulating in the body. Chinese national cuisine is considered healthy and low-calorie, as it contains a lot of vegetables and spices. Most foods are cooked with steam instead of oil. A rich source of iodine, manganese, vitamin B2, ascorbic acid, selenium and other nutrients, seaweed remains indispensable in the Chinese diet. Laminaria and spirulina, recognized as superfoods in the West, are particularly popular.
Choose fish instead of meat

To get closer to the ideal of Chinese beauty, it is recommended to embrace pescatarianism. And no, this is not a form of religion, but a form of partial vegetarianism in which it is permissible to eat fish and seafood instead of meat. Meat is a heavy product that takes a long time to digest. Additionally, excessive consumption contributes to the development of cancer, arthritis, hypertension and other diseases. There is almost no big game in China, so it is not surprising that there is almost no meat in their diet. However, there are fish rich in Omega-2 fatty acids, vitamins D and B2 (riboflavin). It also contains plenty of calcium, phosphorus, iron, iodine, magnesium, zinc and potassium.
Consume less dairy products

Like many Asians, Chinese digestive systems have difficulty tolerating dairy and meat products. Of course, its benefits are undeniable, but Europeans are generally very fond of eating animal products. It has been noticed that excessive consumption of milk, yoghurt, cheese and condensed milk due to their high casein and protein content contributes to the active production of sebum, which causes acne.
Follow a daily routine

Despite communism, the Chinese are superstitious people, especially when it comes to astrology. Until now, the inhabitants of the Celestial Empire followed the Chinese zodiac, hence their organization and discipline. Chinese women plan their days carefully: They go to bed at the same time before midnight and take a nap after lunch. In general, you can see sleeping people everywhere: in the subway, in the library or in a cafe. As in many Asian countries, food plays an important role in Chinese life, so it’s a good idea to line up at restaurants early at lunchtime. This kind of regularity and moderation is very important for a healthy lifestyle.
Go for massage, wushu and acupuncture

Massage and acupuncture are very popular in China. It is believed that by affecting certain points you can control the flow of energy and even cure a particular disease. The Chinese call it san-yin-jiao – points of beauty and longevity, because three important meridians intersect here – the lines of the liver, kidneys and pancreas. So it is very important to knead them to maintain health. Especially at home, you can find jade rollers that Chinese women use to relieve facial swelling and smooth wrinkles. This beauty tool can improve blood circulation, stimulate collagen production, heal scars and cleanse the skin from harmful toxins. It is no coincidence that only members of the imperial family can use such a jade massage device. Another way to bring your body into perfect condition is to practice Wushu. In China, you can often see group gymnastics classes that bring together people of different ages.
Do not carry heavy things and get rid of bad habits

It is difficult to find a Chinese woman who abuses alcohol. Additionally, Asians cannot tolerate the strong types of alcohol popular in Europe. The same applies to tobacco products that are offered for sale but are not very popular among women. Maybe this is the secret of Chinese women’s youth. By the way, young girls even give small bags to their boyfriends during dates because of flirting, they prefer not only to show everyone that the young man is busy, but also to keep his hands free. I agree, your back feels much better without weight.
