Atenas Playa, considered the first beach club in Cadiz, is offering a full-day leisure and dining experience across 18,000 square metres on La Barrosa beach. Chiclana de la Frontera, a coastal municipality located along the Costa de la Luz in southwestern Andalusia, hosts the expansive venue directly above the seafront cliffs.
The complex overlooks the historic 16th-century watchtower Torre Bermeja and offers panoramic views of Sancti Petri castle on the horizon. The destination integrates an infinity pool, private beach access, varied dining spaces, signature cocktails, and live musical entertainment into a single continuous experience.
Visitors can arrive at 11:00 a.m. and stay late into the night without leaving the property. Different zones across the 18,000-square-metre estate take center stage as the day progresses, transitioning from morning pool relaxation to sunset rituals and evening dining.
Poolside Amenities and Gastronomic Options
Starting at 11:00 a.m. daily, the infinity pool serves as the main gathering area for guests. The space is equipped with sun loungers, Balinese beds, background music, and a cocktail menu designed for relaxing against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.
Guests can order food directly in the pool area without leaving their sun loungers. The kitchen prepares informal bites alongside elaborate dishes, including garlic prawn croquettes, patatas bravas, fresh local fish of the day, and a signature toasted brioche topped with red tuna and goat butter.
The menu features a dedicated category called Neoclasicos, which highlights modern interpretations of classic recipes. Featured dishes in this section include tuna tartar, carabinero red prawn carpaccio, and an XXL bull tail cannelloni.
In keeping with traditional Cadiz gastronomy, the restaurant serves classic fried seafood, such as baby squid filigree accompanied by broken eggs and potato chips. The kitchen also specializes in maritime rice dishes, including a recipe made with cuttlefish, tiger prawns, and scallops, as well as a dish combining red tuna cheeks with tender young garlic.
The bar service features more than 15 classic and signature cocktails crafted throughout the day. Among the custom creations is the Atenas Playa Frozen, a cocktail prepared with gin, melon, pineapple, lime, and curacao.
Exclusive Cabane Viewpoint and Marea Restaurant
Located within the complex, La Cabane provides a private lookout space designed for groups of up to ten people seeking extra privacy. Decorated in a boho chic aesthetic, the reserved area features dedicated sun loungers, direct pool access, and its own food and beverage service for special celebrations or group gatherings.
Formal sit-down dining is hosted at Marea Restaurant, the main dining establishment inside the complex. The culinary concept takes inspiration from the Atlantic Ocean and local Andalusian ingredients, combining familiar traditional recipes with contemporary techniques.
Marea Restaurant features the Salon Azul, an ocean-themed dining room with large glass windows that face out toward the sea and Torre Bermeja. The restaurant also includes an outdoor garden terrace surrounded by greenery and sheltered by a large wooden pergola facing the water.
Daily Sunset Rituals and Summer Nightlife
As afternoon transitions into evening, the environment at the beach club changes pace. The outdoor Chill Out area begins the Sunset Ritual, one of the signature daily experiences established at the complex.
Saxophonist Fran Mangas performs live music as the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean and the sky changes color. The ritual incorporates live saxophone performance, evening cocktails, and the venue's featured muses to mark the sunset.
Nighttime activities expand during July and August with a dedicated schedule of musical events. Every Friday, the venue hosts Noches 80enteras, a nostalgia night dedicated to popular music hits from the 1980s. The weekly calendar also includes live concerts, DJ sessions, and evening parties.
Hospitality Vision and Project Background
The beach club project was created by Miguel Grande, one of three managing partners of Madrid's historic century-old Restaurante Los Galayos. Grande established the venue in Cadiz to eliminate the need for guests to travel between separate venues for the beach, pool, dining, afternoon cocktails, and evening entertainment.
By bringing these services together in Chiclana de la Frontera, Atenas Playa makes full use of the Atlantic coastal setting along the Costa de la Luz. Visitors can start their morning on a sun lounger, continue with seafood rice by the sea, head to the beach, listen to live saxophone with a cocktail, and finish with outdoor dinner under the stars.
