Ukrainian presenter and blogger Alina Dorotiuk has reported that a Russian strike drone hit her residential complex in Kyiv, damaging the property's parking area.
The media personality shared video footage showing the aftermath of the attack on Instagram, revealing that her personal car narrowly escaped destruction after she parked it in a different location.
Reflecting on the popular saying that lightning does not strike the same spot twice, Dorotiuk noted that this was the second Russian drone to hit her housing complex in the two years she has lived there. She explained that her car survived only because she had traveled to the opening of the Odesa International Film Festival and returned late at night to park in a different spot.
Dorotiuk stated that while all residents survived the strike, she felt deep sorrow for those whose property was destroyed and for the emotional trauma caused by repeated attacks. She described the daily loss of fellow Ukrainians as an unbearable pain, adding that she felt completely devastated and wished to see Russia burn in the same way.
Heavy Drone Attacks Target Ukrainian Capital
The strike occurred during a wider wave of aerial attacks targeting Ukraine. News agency UNIAN reported that Russian forces launched more than 140 strike drones across the country between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on August 27, with Kyiv being the primary target of the operation.
Air raid sirens were activated 13 times in the capital over a single 24-hour period as air defense forces responded to incoming Russian drones for a second consecutive day.
Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine, has been subjected to frequent drone and missile strikes throughout the ongoing conflict. Dorotiuk is a well-known Ukrainian interviewer and media figure famous for her online celebrity chats, while the Odesa International Film Festival is one of Ukraine's most prominent cultural events.
