Former nurse Alexis Vaughn Yates was sentenced to two years in prison after seducing her 15-year-old stepson at their home in Ocala, Florida.
The 35-year-old was sentenced in September 2025 following an investigation into the incident, which took place on July 26, 2024, while her husband was at work. She was arrested in November 2024.
Newly released court documents reported by the Daily Star revealed details of how the offense was uncovered and the communication between Yates and the victim in the days that followed.
Discovery of the incident
According to court records, Yates engaged in sexual activity with her teenage stepson while her husband was away working. When her husband returned home, he found the pair completely unclothed on the living room sofa in front of the television.
The court documents state that the husband chose not to file a criminal complaint against his wife. Instead, a relative reported the encounter to law enforcement authorities, leading to her arrest months later.
Records show that Yates reached out to her stepson the following day. During that communication, she expressed regret that her husband had discovered their secret.
Yates also asked her stepson to evaluate the quality of their sexual encounter. The teenager replied that the experience was a seven out of ten.
Legal penalties and licensing
Following her release from her two-year prison term, Yates will be placed on the sex offender registry for 10 years. State regulatory bodies also revoked her professional license, prohibiting her from working in healthcare facilities.
Ocala is the county seat of Marion County in central Florida. Under Florida law, individuals convicted of sex offenses involving minors must maintain registration on the state sex offender database and face permanent or long-term restrictions on medical and nursing practice.
The case follows previous reports of another US trial involving a female teacher accused of seducing a male student in 2019, an affair that was similarly uncovered by the defendant's husband.
