Yesterday afternoon, Emmanuel Macron took the plane back to Qatar. Along with him, three French international players went to Doha: Christopher Nkunku, Ngolo Kanté and Paul Pogba, all three of whom were excluded from the World Cup due to injuries.
Other figures from the football world are also invited to participate in the grand final between France and Argentina on Sunday, December 18th at 16:00 (France time). Former international players Alain Giresse, Luis Fernandez and Bruno Cheyrou are in the game. Like former international Laure Boulleau, now a sports commentator, and Stéphanie Frappart, a female international referee.
The delegation also includes other great athletes: Olympic judo champion Teddy Riner, ten-time world heavyweight champion and former Olympic boxing champion Brahim Asloum.
If Emmanuel Macron participates in the semi-finals where France and Morocco face off without his wife, Brigitte Macron will be with him for the final.
Faced with controversy calling for a boycott of this controversial World Cup, Emmanuel Macron said after the Blues’ semi-final victory: “I was behind the French team in Russia four years ago, I’m behind them in Qatar”.
A football fan and proud of our national team, President Macron said at France Inter: “This is great, we are very proud, we are extremely proud, I think our compatriots need simple and pure joy, sport provides it, especially football.
Will the French team win a third championship this year? See you on TF1 and Bein1 this afternoon at 16:00 to watch the match live.
