Two British mafia teams, one led by a Frenchman with nickel-plated legs and the other by a criminal “mastermind”, try to seize secret NATO funds on a train between Paris and Brussels…
In 1968, Gérard Oury embarked on the most disproportionate project of his career: the story of the robbery of a mail train by the Bourvil-Belmondo duo, shot simultaneously in English and French, to conquer the American market. Ambitious Oury hires David Niven and Eli Wallach at a heavy price. Bringing together the 2,000 extras, the shoot moves from Paris to New York, where the director is performing a stunt from the deck of the French ship.
It will be a blessing for Belmondo. Indeed, with more than 5.5 million views in France and more than 10 million in Europe, this film remains the biggest success of the actor’s entire filmography to date. He would be grateful to the director who agreed to shoot under his direction in 1982. A’s AceIt will attract 5.4 million spectators and make a new national card.
Brain It can be viewed at 6Ter on Sunday, December 18th at 21:05.
