One of CBS’ West Coast affiliates has suspended its posts and interactions on Twitter due to ongoing uncertainty over the social media platform’s future.
Of course, KPIX-TV took to Twitter to announce the news, saying that it will pause its activities while it continues to monitor the platform.
In light of the uncertainty surrounding Twitter, and out of an abundance of caution, CBS News Bay Area is suspending its activities on the social media site while we continue to monitor the platform.

KPIX-TV is a San Francisco-licensed television station that broadcasts CBS programming in the Bay Area. It is owned and operated by the station’s CBS News and Stations division, along with CW affiliate KBCW, which is also licensed to serve San Francisco.
The move follows another week of uncertainty on Twitter after new boss Elon Musk announced on Friday that the company’s offices would be closed over the weekend. Earlier this week, he sent a directive to all staff demanding an oath of allegiance and a redoubled effort. Musk gave his remaining workforce (which laid off about half of the existing workforce when he bought the company) a Thursday deadline to report for “long, high-intensity hours” or leave.
#RIPTwitter, #TwitterDown, Mastodon, and Myspace all started touring the platform after Musk’s ultimatum deadline passed. Musk has since reinstated some high-profile users of the platform, including Kathy Griffin and Jordan Peterson, although he has yet to make a decision on Donald Trump’s return. Musk polled supporters Saturday morning about Trump’s recovery — with 9 million votes cast so far, the poll is about 50-50.
