Claudio Capéo, Our Unknown Lands (France 2): "What I feared was loneliness"

When he released his fourth album at the end of November, the artist let it fall into the hands of Raphaël de Casabianca at Vercors. In the program: snow walking, caving and biwak…

So what did you expect from this trip to France?

Claudio Capeo: My time. I am always very surrounded. I have a very regular, very rhythmic life. Feels good not to have a phone anymore (Raphaël took it out when he arrived, editor’s note). When I left I thought we were going to Ardèche and found myself in a completely different, magical place: Vercors.

Did you know about the show?

Certainly ! I’m watching it all the time. It is a program that works. The thing I was afraid of going there was loneliness. I have two children, I always want to talk to them, see them. Being away is a bit disappointing with no means of communication… But even better when we meet again!

Did this week spent in this environment make you want to drop everything?

I live in the countryside, near vineyards in Alsace. I’m not unhappy when I come to Paris, just for a few days. But we think that one day my wife Aurélie and I can hit the road in a minibus and have a good time. There, it’s not really in the program. My new album is coming out and I will be going on tour next summer. I will be busy for the next two years.
