Emmanuel Macron to Vladimir Putin: “I never tell you what I think” (VIDEO)

Journalist Guy Lagache, alone with his camera, followed Elysée’s diplomatic cell, particularly behind the scenes of the debates between Emmanuel Macron and Vladimir Poutine. On the set of C à vous tonight at France 5, Guy Lagache presented some shocking footage from the documentary “A President, Europe and War”.

On Thursday 30 June at 21:10, France 2 will broadcast Guy Lagache’s outstanding documentary “A President, Europe and War”.

The journalist dived behind the scenes of the Elysée from January. When France takes over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, if his initial wish was to describe Europe in an educational way, the Ukraine war initiated by the Russian President will upset his plans. An immersion that lets you see for the first time the location of the “secret defense” meetings on Ukraine

Guy Lagache shot all the footage alone. As an invitee to C à Vous on France 5 tonight, he presents some excerpts from this documentary, in which we see the use of power in France for the first time in documentary history.

In one excerpt, we can see Emmanuel Macron anxiously trusting Guy Lagache in the car at night 22 days before the invasion of Ukraine: “What’s going on?” The journalist asks him. The French President answers, “We are trying to coordinate the events in Russia, to reduce all tensions”.

“Are you there?” then questions Guy Lagache, which Emmanuel Macron says is “too early to say”…

Guy Lagache then asks the vexing question: “Is Putin dangerous?” The President then replies: “I will never tell you what I think”…

In another excerpt, we can listen to a very tense conversation between two heads of state four days before the Russian invasion. “I don’t know where your lawyer learned the law from,” the French head of state replies, “I look at the texts and try to practice them. I don’t know which lawyer can tell you this. In a sovereign country, the texts of the laws are proposed by separatist groups, not by democratically elected officials”, published in France we hear in the quote 5.

While he lied to President Macron about his intentions, we later learn that President Poutine was in the gym during this call, completely relaxed, however crucial it may be.

Guy Lagache told 20 minutes about this documentary: “It’s one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life. I had access, but it wasn’t an open bar. Everything was negotiated with them hour by hour, every day. Once you get into the first day, don’t underestimate the second day. You have to start all over again.”
