Koh-Lanta – Olga eliminated: "I wasn’t expecting a miracle on the board"

Solar Olga was eliminated at the final gate. The adventurer revisits his 35-day survival in Palawan.

You are from Kazakhstan, what does Koh-Lanta represent for you?

Olga: I discovered the show 10 years ago when I came to France and it impressed me, I immediately knew it was made for me. At that time, I couldn’t watch the show often because I was dancing in the Moulin Rouge in the evenings. I wanted to have this extraordinary experience. I applied three times before I was finally selected.

How did you experience the reality of losing all your allies one by one?

Managing Alexandra’s departure was already complicated. The blow came with Colin’s. I was very upset and disappointed with people’s behavior. We’re definitely in a strategy game, but that’s when I realized that Koh-Lanta is not the “Care of the Bears” world and I can’t trust anyone.

How did you react when you found out about Nicolas’ double deal?

I trusted him, so I was very surprised to discover the greens’ strategy and Nicolas’ involvement. In the end, all my allies were eliminated because of him. I really fell from above. After this was just a game, he chose his own strategy and played very well in the end. However, personally, I could not humanly undertake this kind of game.

How did you approach the immunity test?

It was a one-of-a-kind event, when I discovered it, I thought it was a game for me. You had to show concentration, which was one of my strengths. But I’ve spent a lot of time trying to find a way to go faster when the opposite is needed. You really needed to take your time and focus.

You are the victim of an injury at the end of this ordeal…

I was so happy I passed the test, I finally jumped (laughs) but landed badly and sprained my ankle. Help came very quickly, they took me to the hospital, where I went through a series of examinations. I was so scared that my adventure would end so stupidly, I couldn’t sleep all night waiting for the results… Fortunately it was a minor sprain. I came back to camp with a small splint. But it was hard to come back…

So?

I came home from the hospital shortly before the council so I couldn’t participate in the strategies. There was a funny atmosphere in the camp and I felt like everything had already been done… I also felt that my friends were surprised to transform, but it suited them to have someone to kill (laughs). I didn’t even dare speak to Amber or Nicolas in self-defense, knowing that their goal since reunification was to eliminate the Yellows wouldn’t help much.

How did you experience this elimination at the final gates?

It was very difficult, but unsurprisingly I did not expect a miracle on the board (laughs). I was so ready to go further… I was very upset and disappointed, but proud of the progress made.

You’re majestic on balance tests… can you imagine adventurers finding it easier than you to face Géraldine and Jean-Charles in missions?

I don’t know what Géraldine and Jean-Charles think of their talent, but one thing is for sure, if I had found myself writing, I wouldn’t have moved one iota! I would stay 10 hours! (Laughs). It’s a bit ambitious, but I know my balance. Frankly, they must have told themselves it was better to eliminate Olga.

What are you most proud of in this adventure?

For winning the water balance course last week. Earning an immunity totem on Koh-Lanta is truly a unique pleasure.

Do you have any regrets?

It’s not really a regret… but my sprain may have influenced others to vote against me. I wonder how things would have turned out if I hadn’t crashed.

You often talk about your husband Joseph, what did he think about your career?

He is proud of me and admires my journey, he has always supported me in this adventure.
