Dave Chappelle is back on Netflix with a new comedy special on December 31st starring Morgan Freeman.
Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer was filmed in the comedian’s hometown of Washington DC at the historic Lincoln Theatre.
“What are you dreaming about? “Not the dreams you have in your sleep, but the dreams you keep in your heart,” the trailer says. “Don’t be intimidated by the boldness of your dream – let it inspire you.”
Emmy-winning director Stan Lathan returns to direct The Dreamer after directing all seven of Chappelle’s Netflix specials.
Chappelle has received five Emmy Awards, including three for his Netflix comedy special Sticks and stones (2019) and equanimity & The Revelation of the Bird (2017) and two for presentation Saturday Night Live.

Chappelle recently received his fifth Grammy nomination for What’s in a name.
His comedy tour won Pollstar Awards in 2023, 2018 and 2014. The stand-up comedian also received the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2019.
Chappelle will open a comedy and music club in Yellow Springs, Ohio in early 2024.
