Law & Order: SVU: Kelli Giddish returns for season 25 premiere

Kelli Giddish’s former detective Amanda Rollins returns for the season 25 premiere Law and Order: SVUSources confirm to Deadline.

Giddish left the series midway through Season 24 and last appeared in a guest role in the Season 24 finale, which was part of a three-way transition between them Law and authority, SVU And Organized crime. In this episode, Giddish’s character Rollins married ADA Sonny Carisi Jr (Peter Scanavino). Rollins also announced that she is on a new career path and has accepted a teaching position at Fordham University. When she returned, she surprised her former colleagues with the news that she was pregnant.

Law and Order: SVU resumed production on Season 25 on Monday after a six-month production stoppage due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.

“Playing Rollins has been one of the greatest joys and privileges of my life,” she posted on social media last year, announcing her departure. “I was lucky to be a part of it Law and authority Family for twelve years. There is simply no other character on television as good as Rollins. She grew and changed, and so did I. I started this program in my late twenties and am grateful to have spent so many of my adult years with Rollins in my life.

The series is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.

Law and Order: SVU Season 25 premieres Thursday, January 18 at 9/8c on NBC.
