A dangerous criminal takes advantage of the open battle between two police brigades to get through the cracks. Will the order of the supervisory authorities be sufficient for them to cooperate?
If Whodunnit wasn’t her favorite genre, Brasseur was just too good for the job and has always given 100% reliable ratings since her debut as a police officer on Marcel Bluwal’s soap opera Vidocq. In 1979, in Paris, he played anti-gang Commissioner Fush in open battle with his regional brigade counterpart, the villainous Ballestrate, brilliantly portrayed by his friend Claude Rich: the stinkier, you die! In this solid thriller inspired by a news story (the Charenton blunder in 1975), Brasseur stands out, with the screenplay and dialogue being overseen by thriller icon Jean-Patrick Manchette. He doesn’t play the cop, one body and soul… and he gets lost behind his character. When asked how it was prepared, his answer did not change: “ What would I do if I were in my character’s place? And I act in my own way…”. His instinctive performance earned him the César award for Best Actor in 1980.
