What can we expect in this marriage?
Michael Mittelstadt : It has emotions, surprises, twists, openings, disappointments… and love!
Did you have any concerns before shooting this final scene for you and your characters?
If I hadn’t expressed my wish to leave in November and had taken a break, I think I would have lived a little differently. We’re back to complete their story. Good, we’re doing things well. This is how it was supposed to end. This marriage was obvious! After what they’ve been through: the ups and downs in their stories, the conflicts, the therapist’s bills – because you have to think about that too (laughs)… The only logical ending was positive and happy.
Are you aware of the importance of dissemination? In the daily series scheduled at 18:30, same-sex marriage?
We ask this question every time (laughs)! Which reminded me that there was indeed a 6:30 p.m. gay wedding on TF1. But we went far beyond all that…… Yes, that is great and we have always come to join this message of tolerance and freedom. But for us, it was nothing but the fate of two beings who loved each other and celebrated this love. It would be the same if the broadcast was at 14:00 or 21:00. But it’s good that we remember that because we’ve had our heads on the handlebars for three years and we kind of forget about that. We talked a lot because the character of Eliott broke some codes from the first intrigues. We had never seen this before, at that hour, in a daily French TV series. But three years later… It’s like our kissing scenes. Today we are so used to it that we no longer think about it.
Are some intrigues less appealing to you than others?
I must admit that I was fascinated by almost the entire plot that I played. Unless it’s the baby’s ship because learning to play with it was complicated. Since I haven’t watched the series, I can’t talk about other issues.
Why are not you looking ITC ? Don’t like seeing yourself on the screen or do you prefer to hide your shooting impressions?
That is all! I have a certain memory of what I’m doing and it’s never what appears on the screen… It’s always frustrating! My feelings are very subjective, so looking at me doesn’t quite work. And I prefer to preserve the experience of the moment I shoot. Nothing can change that. I still saw the first episode! But there is no after.
Even marriage?
Just an excerpt from an interview with Nicolas. But that’s it!
You leave the show without completely closing the door on one turn. What intrigues could lead you to find the Auguste Armand Institute?
I have to be careful what I say (laughs)! I always repeat that I loved the National Bakery Championship belt last year. So a bit of detective stuff wouldn’t bother me, although it’s a bit difficult since it’s a cooking school, the risks are not the same. However, I’m sure writers who have done a terrific job can come up with something that stands out and isn’t devoid of curves. That tells me, “Okay, I’m interested in this!” On the other hand, I am categorical: it should definitely be with Nico (Nicolas Anselmo, who plays Eliott, editor’s note)! I can’t see myself coming back without him… It was already very important for me to finish with him and leave together. There, it’s over for us. We turned the page.
What would you say to Greg as a farewell message?
(After thinking for a few seconds) I will tell him that I learned a lot about myself thanks to him. It was very cathartic. This is goodbye, but if Greg is no longer on TF1 at 6:30, he will always stay with me.
Here it all begins Watchable on TF1 Monday through Friday at 6:30 PM
