Benedict Cumberbatch teases Doctor Strange’s return "next year"

British comedian Benedict Cumberbatch has announced some big news about his return to Marvel.

Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch has hinted that he will return to the Marvel Universe next year. The wizard has not been seen since “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (2022).

“Next year, there will be Marvel adventures in the works”The actor said at the JW3 Speaker Series conference about his future plans.

Although the post-credits scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness featuring Clea (Charlize Theron) paved the way for a sequel, it is unclear in which project Benedict Cumberbatch will appear again, as Doctor Strange 3 has not been confirmed.

It’s unclear whether the actor’s comments allude to Doctor Strange 3, but he confirmed that he “would love to do another one”, stating that there is still “a lot to discover” about the character.

Alongside Avengers 5 and Doctor Strange 3, another potential MCU project that could feature Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange character is the Fantastic Four.

Including Doctor Strange in Marvel Studios’ Fantastic Four project, even a cameo, makes sense given that he faced John Krasinski’s Reed Richards directly on Earth 838.

Benedict Cumberbatch, who was introduced to the public for his role as Sherlock in the TV series of the same name, first played the role of Dr. Stephen Strange in the movie ‘Doctor Strange’ in 2016. The actor reprises his role in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ (2017), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), “Avengers: Endgame” (2019), “Spider-Man: No Way Home” (2021), and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse” of Madness” (2022).
