Serge Vieira, 46, has been president of the Bocuse d’Or France team for several years, the World Cup for cooks.
Born in Clermont-Ferrand to a family of Portuguese descent, Serge Vieira received two Michelin stars for his eponymous restaurant at the Château de Couffour in Chaudes-Aigues in Cantal. His family says he is keen to “put Chaudes-Aigues and Cantal on the gastronomic destination map”.
Serge Vieira initially had a career as an industrial designer before diverting himself to cooking. He apprenticed at famous houses (Dominique Robert, Régis Marcon) before winning the Bocuse d’Or at age 27.
“He plays in the big leagues aboard his contemporary ship of stone, iron and glass set inside a medieval castle with 360° views of the surroundings. His dishes, carefully prepared up to a quarter of his hair, are expertly composed and his technique never gets in the way of taste.“, comments on the famous red guide cuisine.

Many actors in the cooking world paid a touching tribute to the cook. Food reporter and former host of Midi en France Vincent Ferniot wrote: “I just don’t have words … I’m so unhappy”.
