Downton Abbey vibe
titled upper floor lower floor (En haut, en bass, en français), this two-season British series that aired on the BBC in 2010 tries to decipher class relations, birth inequalities and age change. Like Downton Abbey, in the same era but without a mansion!
The ‘sequel’ to a cult soap opera
Originally there was a book by Margaret Powell called Under the Stairs. This English writer worked as a maid at the beginning of the 20th century. Her autobiography led to the first soap opera (Upstairs, Downstairs) which was very well known in England and aired on the BBC between 1971 and 1975.
Star of the future in the cast
Among the cast we find Claire Foy (photo), who interprets Persephone, a young aristocrat, as a bit spoiled. This is the young Queen Queen II in the Netflix series The Crown. Playing Elizabeth is one of the first major roles of the person who became known worldwide a few years later.
