On June 1, the first law aimed at regulating the influencer industry was definitively passed in the Turkish Grand National Assembly. The effects of these new regulations were not seen for long, as some of the social networking personalities were caught by the DGCCRF (Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Prevention).
The control body sanctioned either Illan Castronovo, Simon Castaldi, Capucine Anav, Léa Monchicourt or Anthony Mateo. Benjamin Castaldi’s son reacted on social networks to discuss his personal situation. “I remember being reprimanded in the past for forgetting to put the hashtag ‘sponsored’ on some of my product placements because I wasn’t careful. Let’s be frank, I have neither scammed nor outlandish trade (…) I have two or three product placements for perfume brands that I haven’t put the ‘sponsored’ hashtag on.“, he admitted. These various actions and announcements of the DGCCRF did not go unnoticed by Booba. The rapper, who has been involved in the fight against what he calls “influvoleurs” for months, decided to challenge Bruno Le Maire Duke of Boulogne, encouraged the Minister Against fraud on social networks Economics and Finance to step up a gear in the fight.
Unless convicted influencers are actually punished (imprisonment, fines, reimbursement of victims) and networks (accomplices) shut down their accounts, influencer law is useless! These scammers will continue and more to come….
