Hulu has expanded the responsibilities of Barrie Gruner, its executive vice president of marketing. She will oversee brand marketing while continuing to oversee content marketing.
Gruner first joined the streamer in 2013 as VP, Originals Marketing & Publicity. She rose through the ranks to become EVP of Hulu Originals Marketing & Publicity.
Gruner previously worked in public relations for Netflix, Turner Broadcasting and Weekly entertainment. She began her career as a creative marketing assistant at Miramax Films.
As part of the reorganization, Scott Donaton will step down from his position as Hulu’s SVP of Marketing. Donaton joined Streamer in 2019 from advertising agency Digitas, where he served as chief content and creative officer.
Donaton was brought in to lead Hulu’s coordinated efforts with brand partners. Prior to Digitas, he was Head of Content Americas at Publicis Media and managed Digitas NewFront. He also held senior positions at UM’s Interpublic Group and managed UM Studios.
Before becoming an Ad Exec, Donaton was the publisher of Weekly entertainment And ad age.
