What kind of researcher do you find yourself in Mask Singer?
Elodie Frege: The secret is flexibility! (Laughs) I didn’t ask myself any questions, but I can understand why that might surprise some. I spent ten years on the road, touring abroad with the band Nouvelle Vague (Nouvelle Vague), especially in Great Britain and the United States.a french band covering punk standards in a bossa nova version, editor’s note) and as a result I rejected many things. I had some time there, and if I didn’t really see myself wearing a costume, I loved playing the investigator, even though it was offered to me a few times. He has a playful side, very childish.
In this quest you succeed Anggun and Vitaa. Do you have a very developed ear for recognizing personalities hidden under costumes from their voices?
I have a keen ear and am pretty good at recognizing songs from the first measure in blind tests! But knowing someone in disguise is very different. We look for clues, clues, especially since personalities are so far from their own universe, sometimes trying very different things. I understand you have to be reckless to join Mask Singer in a costume.
However, you say you have a taste for risk…
Yes, but privately. For example, skydiving, why not? But posing as Mask Singer, no!
Have you watched the show before?
Yes, I have friends who organize Mask Singer snacks, especially the year Karine Ferri appeared there in her Spider costume (in 2020). This is where I really discovered the principle of the program.
You are also currently shooting a drama. Does it apply to TF1 as well?
No, and this is a project that I still have to keep secret. Filming took place in Spain. There are no SVOD channels or platforms affiliated with this pilot yet.
And you’re playing… a man or a woman?
A woman. But I would like to play a man like David Bowie. If your question might give some insight… I’m in!
You were also going to release your fifth album in early 2023. What stopped you?
I prefer to wait a little longer. The songs are ready, mastered. I am the producer and Samy Osta (La Femme, Feu! Chatterton, Juniore, Rover…) with whom I work gave me this advice and I follow it to the letter: “This record is important to you . Take your time ! »
We can’t say more, at least tell us the hue, color?
It will be as green as the ice-cold Antarctic green, like the sea in Greenland. And if I had to name the artists who inspired me for this album, it would be Françoise Hardy, Portishead, the Goldfrapp band and even Ennio Morricone. I love everything about trip-hop music. I won’t go to the disco because it’s trendy and be careful, I love Juliette Armanet but I want to create my own sound.
