In April 2022, production studio Lionsgate suddenly announced that the 83-year-old actor would not be returning for season 3. MythicQuest, without an explanation. According to Rolling Stone, there have been at least two instances where the actor’s behavior on set has raised concerns.

At the time, Rob McElhenney told Variety that “disappointment” F. Murray Abraham is no longer on the show. “We recognize that the CW is a beloved character and plays an important role in the show, so we made sure to pay him an appropriate tribute. We certainly made a big appeal to him.”
