Guillaume Labbe (I promise): "I don’t want to play to play anymore"

After season 2 of battling his addictions, Michaël Gallo has been reborn from the ashes and seems determined to be happy. His translator, Guillaume Labbé, tells us more about this special character in his eyes.

This season proves to be a driving force, even a pillar, for the rest of the Michaël family…

Guillaume Labbe : This is true ! He’s better and has a desire to learn more about his father’s past. She has done a lot of work on him and is in search of identity and truth about his family. He’s had his downfalls, he’s suffered, but that has made him more accessible and all that has made him the confidant of his relatives this season.

He looks more mature than at the beginning of the series. Do you like his path?

I find it interesting that she did everything she could to get better, even if she had to go through painful moments when she discovered what really happened to her father and uncle during the Algerian war. He prefers to suffer by learning something rather than knowing nothing.

You played Michaël for three seasons. Is this character important to you?

Some characters impress me more than others and Michaël is one of them. As filming progressed, I became attached to him. I always try to make connections between them and me, whether on a comedy or drama track record. Michaël explained to me my emotional immaturity, my difficulty separating myself from my family, the role my family played in my development, and the importance of knowing how to get away from them sometimes. Michaël pushed me forward.

Like Michaël, you celebrated your 40th birthday on January 26. How does it feel to pass 10?

The passage of time did not stress me out at all, but subconsciously I realized that this was an important step. Ask myself, “Am I happy where I am? Not like when I was 25 when my head was full of dreams. At the time, I told myself I had time to make them. At 40, I understand that the deadline is approaching to make them a reality. I have no more time to lose. It’s not depressing to think about it, it just helps me make choices.

Exactly, what choices would you make today?

Professionally speaking, I would like to collaborate with people who have something to say or who have artistically well-defined visions and are ready to fight and work hard to realize those visions. I want to meet passionate people who take me on their adventures. It doesn’t matter what the result is as long as there is intensity in the way of doing it. I don’t want to play just to play anymore. I’d like him to transfer me, otherwise too much time would be taken from my private or friend life. It must be worth it!

And do you have such a project?

Yes ! Currently in Reims, I am shooting Machine for Arte, an Arte series directed by Fred Grivois, with whom I worked with Trauma (13ème Rue) and L’Intervention in 2019. For once, this project ticks all the boxes on my wish list!
