EXCLUSIVE: UTA announced Monday the signing of Bruna Marquezine, the aspiring Brazilian actress who will next play the female lead in Warner Bros Blue Beetlethe first live-action DC film centered around a Latino superhero.
The film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, which hits theaters on August 18, will reportedly be the canon of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s revamped DCEU. It follows first-year college grad Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) who returns home full of ambition for his future, only to find that his home is not quite what he left it. While searching for his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly comes into possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime as its symbiotic host, he is given incredible armor that possesses extraordinary and unpredictable powers, changing his destiny forever as he becomes the superhero Blue Beetle.
Marquezine will play Jaime’s love interest Jenny Kord, making her Hollywood film debut.
The actress previously starred in the Netflix original series. Maldivesand also starred in more than 17 telenovelas and six mini-series, including Nada Sera Como Antes, Mulheres Apaixonadas And Deus Salve o Rei. She will continue to be represented by Coolab Digital.
