WrestleMania 39 delivers record weekend for Peacock, 29% viewership growth from 2022

Crowds flocked to Peacock for WWE’s WrestleMania 39.

The two-day event, held at Sofi Stadium in Los Angeles, earned the streamer its highest weekend attendance ever, according to NBCUniversal, and generated the most viewer hours of any live event on Peacock except for the Super Bowl.

WrestleMania 39, including the Hall of Fame ceremony and NXT Stand & Deliver, streamed exclusively on Peacock on April 1 and 2. Compared to last year’s WrestleMania 38 weekend, ratings were up 32% in reach and 29% in hours watched.

As usual, NBCU did not release any specific stream numbers for Wrestlemania 39.

Monday night’s post-WrestleMania episode Raw on USA Network also took advantage of this weekend’s WWE buzz. The show earned a 1.0, its highest rating in the 18-49 age group in three years. It was also the second highest viewership during that period, with around 2.26 million viewers. That’s just behind the 2.3 million people who participate about 30e Birthday which aired in January.

Compared to last year’s post-WrestleMania episode, Raw a 22% increase in demo and an 8% increase in overall viewership. Year to date, Raw is up 7% from 2022 with an average viewership of nearly 1.9 million.

In a landscape of declining broadcast and cable ratings, WWE programming generally thrives in prime time slots. Leading up to Wrestlemania 39, Friday knock off posted its best demo ratings in more than two years, up nearly 20% from the previous week, despite direct competition from the NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament (which also had record results).

WrestleMania 39 featured several big matches, including Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes and Bianca Belair vs. Asuka. Bad Bunny and Snoop Dogg were among the famous guests who added to the weekend’s star power.
