AMC networks Interview with the Vampire undergoing a major casting. Bailey Bass, who played the show’s female lead in season 1, teenage vampire Claudia, will not proceed with the adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel. She will be replaced by Delainey Hayles, who will take on the role for Season 2, which begins production next week in Prague and will also film in Paris and New Orleans.
“Bailey Bass is a talented actor who did a remarkable job bringing the character of Claudia to life. Interview by Anne Rice with the Vampire. For various reasons, Delainey Hayles will appear as Claudia in season two,” the network said in a statement. “We are grateful to Bailey for her memorable performance in season one and wish her all the best.”
Bass issued her own statement, but also declined to comment on the reasons for her departure.
“Due to all kinds of unforeseen circumstances, I cannot return Interview by Anne Rice with the Vampire for the second season“ She said. “Playing Claudia was a dream role and an incredible ride. I wish Delainey the best of luck with the acquisition. I can’t wait to watch. I am so grateful to AMC, the producers, Jacob, Sam, the crew and of course the amazing fans.”
Bass made her lead actress debut in the first season of AMC Interview with a vampire, who took on the role in Kirsten Dunst’s 1994 film. Tsireya also plays bass in James Cameron’s blockbuster Avatar: the way of water and will reprise her role in the third and future parts of the film.
Hayles has previously appeared in The lion, the witch and the wardrobe in London’s West End, Too close on ITV & City of Holbyon the BBC. She joins returning regulars Jacob Anderson (Louis de Pointe du Lac), Sam Reid (Lestat de Lioncourt), Eric Bogosian (Daniel Molloy), Assad Zaman (Armand) and Ben Daniels (Santiago).
A contemporary adaptation of Anne Rice’s Gothic novel, Interview by Anne Rice with the Vampire follows Louis de Pointe du Lac, Lestat de Lioncourt and Claudia’s epic tale of love, blood and the perils of immortality as told to journalist Daniel Molloy. The eight-part second season was executive produced by Mark Johnson and showrunner Rolin Jones.
