EXCLUSIVE: CBS Studios is in development The mysterious MortonsA CBS detective drama series directed by Amy Radin (Charmed), George Nordy (Charmed) and Laurie Zaks (Lock)Appointment learned.
The show follows a scrappy homicide detective who hires his wayward family of mystery writers to help him solve the cases that baffle his police department.
Rardin and Northy will serve as writers and executive producers; Zak’s CEO produces Rosewood TV under her banner.
Rardin is currently Executive Producer/Writer at Amazon/Temple Hill’s Tetons. She was previously head writer and co-executive producer at Marvel/Disney+’s echoand Co-Creator/Executive Producer on reboot of Charmed She also served as co-executive producer and writer for the CW for four seasons Jane the Virgin for the CW and began her broadcasting career at ABC Family’s Greek. Rardin is represented by Verve and Sugar23.
Nordi sold Ozma to Netflix, a series that in the The Wizard of Oz universe, with 21 rounds and Untitled Entertainment to produce. His property GBF (Gay Best Friend) premiered at the TriBeCa Film Festival and was distributed to critical acclaim by Vertical Films. George sold Wellsville to NBC and Notorious to the CW. Northy was previously co-produced Charmed with Amy Radin for CW and CBS Studios. He also pitched a series adaptation of Jawbreaker with Darren Stein and Sony TV to E! sell. Northy is represented by APA, Untitled and Sloss Eckhouse.
Zaks, who was behind the hit ABC drama series CloseIn 2021, she founded her production company Rosewood Television. At the time, she was signed to ABC Signature after seven years as a television executive at Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman’s Mandeville Films. She recently signed a deal with ITV Studios America, the US arm of the British broadcasting and production group, where she has a development deal. She previously developed series such as ABC’s The Fix, The Family and bad city as well as that of Netflix hit and run. Zaks is represented by UTA and attorney Gregg Gellman.
