Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson shared a video yesterday of his “Closed Circle” moment backstage at Sunday’s Oscars when he reunited with Brendan Fraser, his 2001 costar. The mummy is coming back.
Although we can’t hear what the two old friends are saying – the music is too loud – the reunion seems happy. Fraser, who won an Oscar for his performance in The Whale, even introduces his sons Leland (16) and Holden (18) Black Adam Star.
“Very cool full circle moment here with my old friend Brendan Fraser and his boys,” Johnson wrote in the Instagram post. “My very first film of my Hollywood career was The Mummy Returns, starring Brendan. Many critics and cynics bet against me at the time, but Brendan welcomed me with open arms and was very supportive.
“I never forget nice people. Now, years later, Brendan wins his Oscar for Best Actor in The Whale and I’ve become famous for wearing a fanny pack. Congratulations bro – enjoy your flowers.
If you’re too young to remember Johnson’s fanny pack he wore in the 1990s. See photo below for a more recent example.
