Amazon Prime ad directed by Olivia Wilde makes its Oscars debut

A new Amazon Prime ad campaign, debuting tonight at the Academy Awards, kicks off with a spot directed by Olivia Wilde.

The “It’s On Prime” campaign aims to show how the world’s largest customer loyalty service makes everyday life easier.

Lizzo and John Krasinski will also be part of the campaign, Amazon said.

From Wieden+Kennedy in London, this is the actress/director’s first known sequel Don’t worry love.

It follows a young woman who encounters unwanted facial hair for the first time. Horrified at first, she tries to remove it until she realizes her icons have mustaches, by Eddie Murphy in the Amazon Original Come to America to historical idols such as Frida Kahlo and Freddie Mercury. She learns to embrace her looks with newfound confidence, uses Prime perks to decorate her bedroom with inspirational posters, buys a Freddie Mercury outfit, and plays Amazon music that makes her feel unique.

The campaign reflects a new strategic emphasis on Prime from the giant parent company, with Prime Video as a key factor recently highlighted by CEO Andy Jassy on the company’s recent conference call. Prime also just went live with a new destination for member news, announcements and events. The CEO expects investment in entertainment to continue to increase as Prime Video content is very successful in driving Amazon Prime signups.

As Deadline reported, Disney Advertising has sold out all inventory for Sunday night’s Oscars show on ABC, with prices slightly lower than 2022.
