Rick Famuyiwa, director and executive producer of The Mandalorianattended the Season 3 premiere of the Disney+ series and teased about the upcoming season.
One of the pressing questions was who Famuyiwa thought could wield the dark sword better, Din Djarin or Bo Katan.
“I think that’s part of the question of the season,” he told Deadline at the event. “What does it mean and what does it mean to be a Mandalorian? How does this culture of people with so many different factions find ways to come together, or can they come together? The symbols and the things that make it what it is are very important and for each character they have meaning and those implications, whether Din takes off his helmet or Bo loses his dark sword, has consequences. This season is about dealing with it all.

The Mandalorian gave clues as to where it’s headed, and Famuyiwa teased that all those seeds planted will eventually “culminate” in Season 3.
“I feel stories are being told to Jon [Favreau] led from the beginning, slowly led us, every season, every project, led us here, led us to season three,” he said that season. I feel that is part of the feeling [and] the meaning of things reaches a climax. It really feels like a third act in a way, although there are a lot of stories to tell. I think that’s the feeling I have, that you feel like you’ve been on a journey with these characters, and that journey comes to a head this season.
