The “A League of Their Own” Twitter post fueled speculation that Season 2 could be renewed

Speaking after months of renovation A competition in itselfPrime Video continues to stoke the fire of suspicion with a Twitter post.

“Spring training is officially underway,” read the tweet posted on the streamer’s official feed Saturday morning, prompting a flurry of reactions from fans asking if this means Season 2 is finally coming.

While sources tell Deadline that the social media post was made to mark the start of MLB’s 2023 spring training, one can understand why fans are taking the news differently.

It’s been over six months since Season 1 of A competition in itself Premiered on Prime Video with no official word on the show’s fate. There are positive signs that this show, which has developed a loyal following, would get a second season.

Created by Will Graham and Abbi Jacobson, the hour-long series is an adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 film of the same name. It follows the founding of the World War II women’s professional baseball team, intertwined with the experiences of both diverse and queer women downtown, earning the show a cult following.

Jacobson also stars with Chanté Adams, D’Arcy Carden, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Roberta Collindrez, Kelly McCormack, Priscilla Delgado, Molly Ephraim, Kate Berlant, Melanie Field, Nick Offerman, Rosie O’Donnell, Patrick J. Adams, Patrice Covington and Sadiah Ekulona, ​​Lea Robinson, Andia Winslow, Rae Gray and Lil Frex.

Season 1 of A competition in itself received three nominations, including Outstanding New TV Series at the GLAAD Media Awards, Outstanding Costume Design at the NAACP Image Awards, and Best Supporting Performance in a New Written Series for Gbemisola Ikumelo at the Independent Spirit Awards. The winners for these categories have not yet been announced.

The series is from Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television in association with Field Trip Productions. The series was co-created and performed by Graham and Jacobson. Field Trip’s Hailey Wierengo and Desta Tedros Reff also serve as executive producers. Jamie Babbit directed the pilot and is also an executive producer.
