Law & Order: SVU Marathon in Honor of Richard Belzer Airs on USA Network

EXCLUSIVE: USA Network operates a Law and order: SVU Marathon in honor of Richard Belzer, who died earlier this week at the age of 78.

The marathon, titled Munch-a-thon, features 10 of Belzer’s best episodes. The actor and comedian starred as a tough New York cop opposite Guy in the series after playing the same character Murder: Life on the Street.

Episodes begin Sunday, February 26 at 4:00 PM ET/PT and run until 1:00 AM. Souvenir cards are attached to each of them.

The episodes of the marathon are: “Remorse”, “Legacy”, “Manhunt”, “Parts”, “Uncle”, “Unorthodox”, “True Believers”, “Wonderland Story”, “Spring Awakening” and “Fashionable”. Crime.”

Belzer was cast as Detective John Munch Murder: Street Life in 1992. The critically acclaimed cop drama debuted after the 1993 Super Bowl and aired on NBC through 1998. He was one of four actors who remained in the cast through the seven seasons and the subsequent television film in 2000. After murder packed, he started playing Munch Law and order: SVUa role that lasted 20 seasons.

A statement from NBC and Universal Television after his death praised his work: “Anyone who has ever had the pleasure of knowing Richard Belzer Det. Whether it’s on Homicide or Law & Order: SVU, for four decades John Munch will never forget how much he lived and made this beloved character his own. His professionalism, talent and dedication to the craft made him a pillar in the industry, but it was his humor, compassion and loving heart that made him family. Our condolences go out to his loved ones as we mourn his loss with them, but also to celebrate his memory.”

“Richard Belzer’s Detective John Munch is one of television’s most iconic figures,” said a statement from the show’s creator and producer, Dick Wolf. “I first worked with Richard on the Law and Authority/murder Crossover and loved the character so much that I told Tom (Fontana) I wanted to make him one of the original characters in ‘SVU’. The rest is history. Richard brought humor and joy to all of our lives, was the consummate professional and we will all miss him dearly.”
