Of course, the death of co-star Richard Belzer a few days ago was also a topic of conversation with Savannah Guthrie. Hargitay paid tribute to her old colleague as a “beautiful and complex” person.
“What a heart and soul,” she said. “He was family and taught me so much about risk-taking, creativity and confidence, and he brought so much fun to the set.” Belzer, who had a background in stand-up comedy, “was so witty, quick-witted, brilliant minded and yet it would melt in the eyes of a child.”
Hargitay, Executive Producer of CSRShe also talked about a shoot behind the camera. A clip was shown from Thursday night’s episode which she directed – her first such outing in three years. “It’s a little bit different than what we usually do,” she said of the episode, which co-starred Bradley Whitford. “There are many surprises.” She added that she was “so honored that they entrusted me with this material.”
Besides Belzer, Ice-T is another actor with whom Hargitay has shared a lot of screen time. As she recently revealed during the unveiling of her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she said she managed to become the only one allowed to use the nickname “Icy”. The actor and rapper also has his own nickname for Hargitay, which she did not want to reveal. “My relationship with him is so cozy!” She laughed.
