Marie Denarnaud (Prisoner Island): "How does a community of ordinary people respond to brutal deprivation of liberty?"

As comfortable in drama as he is in comedy, the actor plays a doctor taken hostage by an activist commando in “L’île prisonnière”, which aired on France 2 on Monday 20 February.

You play Eliane, the friend of Chris (Deborah François), who is taken prisoner by the commando. What can you tell us about your character?

Marie Denarnaud : Éliane is a doctor, a caring and listening woman. She shares the life of Chris, a younger nurse, she. She became the second 10-year-old mother of her partner’s deaf-mute son, Geoffroy (Noé Chabbat). Over time, it became one with this island and its inhabitants.

What seduced you in this scenario?

Ordinary hero problem. How does a community of ordinary people respond to brutal deprivation of liberty? It was interesting to see how connections can be made and how resistance is organised. I like this mix of suspense, which has its roots in contemporary concerns and the action movie side.

Ecology is at the center of this story. How do you view environmental activists?

We now know that the richest, ie 0.01% of the world’s population, are the ones who pollute the most. It is scandalous to allow a handful of billionaires out of touch with the rest of humanity to destroy everything. More than these two environmental activists who sprinkled soup without damaging a glass-enclosed Van Gogh painting in October 2022, I was more shocked by their selfishness and greed. On the other hand, I do not approve of violent acts against people and property. Violence, whether social or physical, disgusts me.

It definitely looks close to your heart especially made for women. in 1999 I love youPatrick Sébastien, your first movie, you play a raped teenage girl, then again in 2014 ordinary storyBy Audrey Estrougo…

I am looking for projects that will witness the world I live in. It is absolutely necessary to raise awareness of public authorities. We have only just begun the year of nine femicides.

You’re just not great at dramas. In the HPI series on TF1, we discover that you have a talent for comedy…

As Commissioner Céline Hazan, I admit that I find myself quite funny. This isn’t my first light role on television. I played in the M6 series, thanks guys good (2006-2007), I played a comic character, Isis. As HPI, we are shooting the 3rd season until March. It promises to be explosive, a real firework.

What are your other projects?

I shot two singles for France 2: inferencesA drama and thriller about drunk driving, by Virginie Wagon 12 years, 7 months, 11 days, with Julie Zengin. I also have a small role. dalvaAn auteur film about incest, which will be released on March 22. In the cinema, I always choose the first films with strong themes. It’s also a way to get involved. And then, this year, I intend to make my first feature film that I’ve been working on for four years: a fable-like dramatic comedy.
