Asterix vs. Obelix vs. Caesar (TF1): Drunk Depardieu, Palmade’s scapegoat… Behind the scenes of Claude Zidi’s narration

TF1 is broadcasting “Asterix and Obelix vs Caesar” tonight. Claude Zidi tells behind the scenes of a set where the atmosphere is not sad, through the main actors…

Sim and Pierre Palmmade (Agecanonix and Assurancetourix) : scapegoats

“At the massive 4,000m2 studio in La Ferté-Alais (Essonne), we had rebuilt the Gallic village with a space for authentic pigs. One morning, the young extras had fun locking the old Agecanonix-made Sim with these creatures. He found himself face to face with a wild boar. The other whipping boy was Pierre Palmade, who played Assurancetourix. He was perched on his tree with his lyre on the stage, resting on a ladder in between scenes. “

Christian Keyboard (Asterix) : Lucky

“I remember an incredible anecdote about him. Christian had to be lifted by an elephant’s trunk. Feeling bad about the outcome of this risky scene, he wanted to double down. Good idea: thick skin left the stuntman five feet. He fell off the ground and injured his professional head. What is this Christian? so lucky!”

Gérard Depardieu (Obelix): Indestructible

“Gérard is a Terminator: Finishes the movie no matter what! He finally limped. Why? A serious motorcycle accident. After a 40-day hiatus, this force of nature returned to become Obélix: he began to eat and drink like a beast. red wine… What energy… It’s indestructible!”

Laetitia Casta (Falbala): My darling

“The whole crew was very interested in this high-class girl. We celebrated her 20th birthday on set by arranging a big surprise dinner. Clavier started throwing vegetables at the others and it got out of control because of Clavier. Depardieu got involved, and I had to dodge bullets. Laetitia amazed me with her unfailing calm. As in the scene where Obélix proposes to her: Depardieu had forcefully drank the wine. He noticed it, but managed to catch it five times in a row. He’s startled.”

Roberto Benigni (Lucius Detritus): Whimsical

“Roberto is as enthusiastic on set as he is in life. He is always in a good mood, shouting, jumping, laughing, singing… Before shooting, the technicians corrected a collapsing wooden tower 8 meters high. And Roberto was Inside. He was in heavy armor, spread out over his head. We thought he was dead… Then he straightened up and shouted with an Italian accent, smiling: “Everything is fine. Good friends!”

Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar It’s on the air Monday, February 13th at 21:10. TF1.
