The Last of Us actress Melanie Lynskey sings criticism of her post-apocalypse body type

Melanie Lynskey disliked criticism that she was a little too soft for the role of a post-apocalyptic warlord.

Model Adrianne Curry posted a tweeted observation (since deleted) on February 8 that Lynskey was not right for the role of Kathleen, a Kansas City warlord who apparently defeated the FEDRA militia in that city. She is now chasing the main characters Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) after they messed with her team.

Curry, a graduate of “America’s Next Top Model,” tweeted a photo of Lynskey and said, “Your body says a life of luxury … not a post-apocalyptic (sp) warlord.” Where is (The Terminator actress) Linda Hamilton if you need her?”

Lynskey wasn’t in the mood for it.

“First of all, this is a photo from my cover shoot for InStyle magazine, not a photo from HBO’s ‘The Last Of Us,'” she said. tweeted. “And I play a character who carefully planned and executed a fall of FEDRA. I’m supposed to be SMART ma’am. I don’t need to be muscular. That’s what accomplices are for.”

Lynskey continued, “I understand that some people are upset that I’m not the typical cast for this role. I find it exciting. Aside from the action-packed moments, when you feel like you’re actually in someone else’s body, beating expectations is the most exciting part of my job.

She concluded by thanking fans for their “overwhelming and powerful” amount of “love and support.”

Curry, however, was not deterred. She doubled down on her statement.

“I’m so over it all,” says the model tweeted. “Can’t actors let people dislike their characters? I’m ready We are not what we pretend to be on a set or stage. it’s okay if someone doesn’t like them. it’s not personal at all.”

She also accused Lynskey of blowing up “what I said about her perfect hourglass frame being the most desirable thing to men”. Seems pretty manipulative. She is NOT her character either,” she added.

The fifth episode of The Last of Us airs Friday, February 10 on HBO Max.
