Percy Jackson creator hints at ‘Big Scenes’ with Adam Copeland and teases Disney+ series

Percy Jackson and the Olympics get an adaptation of the TV series coming to Disney+ in 2024. As the show films its first season, creator Rick Riordan is teasing details about what fans can expect.

One of the Greek gods from the book series is Ares, played by WWE wrestler Adam “Edge” Copeland. Riordan thought of “coraí”, meaning “wrestler” and “one who practices the sport of Coraíocht”.

“I’m thinking of this because of some great scenes that Adam Copeland recently filmed for us as Ares, the god of war,” Riordan wrote of Mastodon. “As they said in my childhood monster truck commercials, ‘You can afford the whole seat, but all you need is the Edge!’

In a previous post, Riordan gave a glimpse of what it’s like filming the Disney+ series.

“I love watching our actors film this very serious scene, all the drama, and then someone puts a prop down and they’re trying so hard not to laugh. We should save it for the blooper role,” he wrote.

Percy Jackson and the Olympics tells the fantastic story of a 12-year-old modern-day demigod, Percy Jackson, who is just coming to terms with his newfound supernatural powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master’s lightning bolt. Now Percy must travel across America to find it and restore order to Olympus.

Percy Jackson has previous adaptations in films such as Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief in 2010 followed by Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters In 2013.
