The tragedy was narrowly averted. On Thursday, January 5th, Ivan Sosa found himself in the hospital after training in the Colombian city of Fusagasuga, 70 kilometers from Bogota. The cyclist did not fall victim to the fall, but found himself in the middle of a fierce argument with a truck driver. For reasons still unknown, he got out of Ivan Sosa’s vehicle and attacked Ivan Sosa with a pistol.AFP. The truck driver did not fire his gun, but used the stock to hit the 25-year-old athlete in the head. Ivan Sosa, whose jaw was opened, was therefore transported to the hospital for treatment of his wound.
The Movistar formation, which Ivan Sosa has evolved since 2022 after defending the colors of Ineos, reported on his mountaineer on Twitter: “After Thursday’s incident, we confirmed that Ivan Sosa was being treated for injuries to his chin at a medical center in Fusagasuga. The Movistar team driver is conscious and we wish him good luck!“This Friday, January 6th, Ivan Sosa gave an assessment of his situation in a story posted on his Instagram account that he wanted to reassure fans: “I want to thank you for all the support and love I have received over the past few hours. Fortunately it was just a scare but I feel good.The runner’s father, Antonio Sosa, shared a photo expressing the violence of his son’s attack.
