Angela Bassett won her second Golden Globe on Tuesday in her second career nomination for her role as Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Foreverthe first major acting award for a Marvel film.
In her acceptance speech, Bassett recalled her first visit to the Globes stage in 1994 when she won What does love have to do with it.
She then thanked her Marvel Disney family, among other things Black Panther Filmmakers Ryan Coogler and Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios.
“We have loved and we have healed and we are surrounded every day by the light and spirit of Chadwick Boseman and we are happy to know that with this historic event Black Panther series, it’s part of his legacy that he led us to,” Bassett said.
She addressed the awards milestone for Marvel films.
“And to the Marvel fans, thank you for embracing these characters and showing us so much love,” Bassett said. “We have just made history with this nomination and with this award. It belongs to all of you, all of us.”
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will begin streaming on Disney+ on February 1st.
