The Chic City: As Emily Season 3 airs in Paris, here’s how to find the stars’ favorite spots

Will the love affair with Paris ever end? Not. In fact, the more you visit the City of Lights and the more intimate you become, the more intense the love becomes.

It’s one of the reasons so many of us are addicted, often secretly, to Emily In Paris, the Netflix show that returns to our screens next week for a third series.

The cast is led by Lily Collins as a fashion-mad American who has to sink or swim in an advertising agency without speaking much French. And let’s face it, Parisians are not fooled.

The storylines and Lily’s Technicolor outfits are very entertaining, but it’s the city of Paris that shines the brightest. When I visited, I stayed in the new one Madame Reve Hotel, near the Louvre, and traveled on the Eurostar from London St Pancras. My mission was to explore some of Emily’s favorite spots – and some of my own…

TABLE FOR ONE, PLEASE

You can’t walk more than a few meters in Paris without coming across a cafe with tables and bistro chairs jutting out onto the street. Square of the Vosges is dotted with cafes, art galleries, performing street artists and the former residence of Victor Hugo, which is now a museum.

Here, card Café is where impeccably dressed locals enjoy their morning coffee or afternoon pastry.

Ernest Hemingway was a regular, and French designer Sonia Rykiel came so often that she named a sandwich (without bread) after her. It is here in the first series that Emily begins a short-lived relationship with Thomas.

Cafe de la Nouvelle Mairie, on rue des Fosses Saint-Jacques, is a favorite of Emily and her friend Mindy. Enjoy the delicious fresh croissants and the excellent selection of organic wines.

BARS WITH A TWIST

Parisians take cocktails seriously and will tell you if you make even one ‘wrong’. Red door, at 60 rue Charlot, has been one of the top 50 bars in the world for the past seven years. Dimmed lighting, blue velvet sofas and a playful drinks menu make it all cosy. The cast and crew of the show had a drink here when the second series ended.

After a long day at work on a perfume commercial photo shoot at the Pont Alexandre III, Antoine, Sylvie and Emily stop for a drink fist on the Rive Gauche, overlooking the Seine. This place has a terrace for cocktails and a restaurant and is a club at night. snake praise, on the Place des Vosges, shows an espresso martini that is “so dirty it needs a safe word”. After dinner, hit a ball on the small dance floor. It attracts all ages and spirits of adventure.

THERE’S LOVE IN THE AIR

Rue de l’Abreuvoir is touted as “the most beautiful street in Paris” on the Netflix show. The narrow cobbled streets and old world charm make it a must see.

Enjoy a walk or jog along the Seine like Emily. Sit on a lounge chair and read a book, or dine on oysters and wine on a patio while listening to jazz.

The landscaped gardens of royal palace In the Rue de Valois, Emily and Mindy meet for the first time. The large fountain, tree-lined walkways and flower beds are beautiful all year round Luxembourg gardens is perfect for a romantic picnic on its famous green chairs.

GREAT RESTAURANTS

Emily’s love interest Gabriel is the owner of Les Deux Comperes, which is actually a traditional Italian bistro Terraneranear the Place de l’Estrapade.

What’s on the menu? It is known for its classic steaks, foie gras and a wide selection of wines.

Emily has an awkward lunch with Gabriel’s friend Camille Tortuga on Rue de la Chaussee d’Antin. It’s known for its excellent food and glamorous rooftop terrace — you can also catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower.

TOUGH TO PRINT

One of the best vintage shops is Plaisir Palace, rue Paul Dubois. From here, Emily wears a gold sequin dress and an orange jacket in the new series. Her French boss Sylvie also wears some clothes.

Buy a pink hat or colorful knitwear like Emily’s Thank you very mucha three-story boutique on Boulevard Beaumarchais full of beautiful clothes and accessories.
