Eurocrats rejected Britain’s recent request to recognize British pet passports, meaning holidaymakers traveling to the bloc will still face Brexit hassles.
Leaked minutes of negotiations last month show that Brussels will not allow British pets to travel to the EU without a veterinary certificate.
They can cost up to £180 and are only valid for four months, leaving frequent travelers coughing more than once.

According to a Daily Mail memo of a meeting last month, EU officials rejected a request by British negotiators for the EU to recognize pet passports.
Brussels said that such recognition “is only available to non-EU countries that are dynamically adapting to the EU animal health system or working towards such dynamic adaptation”.
British officials said Britain’s animal health rules already met the bloc’s standards as they had not changed since Brexit. An exception has already been made for guide dogs.
