TikTok travel vloggers and world travel gurus can be incredibly helpful when you want to learn more about a vacation destination and what to bring.
However, with so much information about what to bring on a trip, it can be difficult to know what to actually pack.
From light travelers who only take the essentials, to those who just can’t get to the airport without packing their entire wardrobe.
Now a TikToker has hit out at other content creators on the platform who are allegedly wrongly advising jet-setters to pack too much.
Backpacker Melissa appeared in a clip with her friend under her handle @thetravelteacherx, discussing what not to pack in bulk.
@thetravelteacherx Overpacking when traveling is the WORST. Remember, the videos you’re watching of people packing haven’t happened yet!!! Don’t waste your time???? Pack only what you need for Southeast Asia!!!! #southeastasia #asiatravel #southeastasiasolotravel #solotravel #solotravelling #travellingsia #travellingtheworld #solotravel #asiatravel #backpackers #essentialfortravelling #whatipackedvswhattheyate #packingforasia #backpackinglife #backpackingtheworld #vietnamtraveltraveli

On her account @thetravelteacherx, a person named Melissa appeared in a clip with her friend discussing what not to pack in bulk.
Her companion begins the video by saying she regrets taking a large toiletry bag on holiday because she “only needs three things in the shower”, meaning it would take up unnecessary space in her suitcase.
She also described the item as “pointless” and added that carrying too many toiletries takes up valuable space in your luggage.
She noted that there was no need to carry “a million tampons”, adding: “Everyone thinks they’re so expensive, but they’re only a few pounds.”
Melissa reasoned that she “brought so many tampons that they were all damaged and still had to buy new ones.”
Shoes were the next item of clothing. Melissa urges you not to pack too much. She said, “Don’t take too many shoes. You’ll need a maximum of two pairs.”
Her next point was one that will spark debate among many travelers, as Melissa complained about those packing different outfits.
The vlogger advised backpackers to “bring only the essentials and not overpack,” because “if you need things, you can buy them at your destination.”
As the clip ended, they discussed how much sunscreen to bring, as they both agreed that you might need less than you think.
They said, “You don’t need crazy amounts.” You will not use it.
Melissa added: “I only used one bottle of sunscreen when I was in Bali, Thailand and Australia. ‘Take our advice and don’t listen to these TikTok gurus.’
Despite her advice, other users in the comments disagreed about what amounts of sunscreen and hygiene products might be necessary.

The pair have hit out at other content creators on the platform who they say have wrongly advised jet fighters to pack too much
One replied: “I would recommend anyone traveling to Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam to take tampons. ‘Compared to Thailand/Bali I found it very difficult to bring them there!’.
A second replied: “I definitely don’t agree with the sunscreen. I brought nine bottles for two people and in two months we probably used up about three of them.”
A third added: “Half of everything you packed and half again. “One thing I’ve learned is to pack what you’re comfortable in.”
A fourth wrote: “The more you travel the better you get at packing. The last time I went to Thailand I took 14kg with me.”
