This week singer/songwriter Shakin’ Stevens takes part in our Travel Q&A.

Here he talks about his earliest holiday memory – a trip to Porthcawl – his first trip abroad, his travel essentials and more.

EARLY HOLIDAY REMINDER?

Two weeks in the summer with the family in Porthcawl, South Wales. We stayed in some trailers and I played on the beach for hours. At the end of the two weeks, our children got a special treat… to drive a bumper car.

FIRST FOREIGN TRIP?

Toured Europe with my band as a teenager in the 60s. We took the ferry to the Netherlands before continuing on to Denmark and Germany – great days.

DO YOU LIKE TOURS?

Yes, I still enjoy being on stage. I toured with Status Quo last year and hope to tour again later this year.

TOUR HIGHEST PLACE?

I am always warmly welcomed at my performances in the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark and Sweden.

MUST HAVE TRIP?

My lyrics, my personal black jacket when I’m on tour, and most importantly, my glasses.
