A Michelin star chef has claimed he has found the best McDonald’s restaurant in the UK.
Gareth Ward is the owner of Ynyshir Restaurant with Rooms, which won best restaurant in the UK at last summer’s Estrella Damm National Restaurant Awards.
The chef was asked about his favorite restaurants by Wales Online earlier this year.
After naming two local restaurants, Gareth praised a McDonald’s outlet in the Enterprise Park industrial estate in Welshpool, Powys.
The award-winning chef said: “Welshpool McDonald’s is on another level. It just became different [elements] to everyone else. It’s just completely broken.

“I had a crispy chicken last time and it was definitely there [something like] Truffle mayonnaise on top. I don’t think so, but it tasted so good!
“Everyone I talk to says it’s by far the best McDonald’s in the world. Welshpool McDonald’s, that’s the point.’
Built in May 2021, the fairly new restaurant is spread over two floors and has a sleek, modern interior and exterior.
Nor is Gareth the only one impressed by his recent visits to the Council.
The drive-thru, where customers can also dine, also has hundreds of excellent online reviews.
One raved on Google Reviews: “Quick and efficient service and quiet as the kitchen is not in sight. The food was good quality. One of the best McDonald’s in the UK.”
Another added: “Stayed here with my partner and three young children late one night on the way back from holiday. Children were very tired. I just wanted to write how amazing the staff is at this restaurant.
“If I stop by again I will definitely stop again.”

Meanwhile, a third said: “I have to say this particular McDonald’s was the best yet for courtesy and service with a smile and the food was hot and delicious.”
Last week, McDonald’s added five new items to its menu, but customers should be quick as they are only available for a limited time
Back by popular demand, the £4.49 Chicken Big Mac, which debuted last year, is back.
The fast food chain has also introduced a brand new steakhouse staple, the Mighty McMuffin, fan favorite Mozzarella Dippers, while Cadbury Creme Egg and Cadbury Caramel Egg McFlurry are also back.
Foodies can now start their mornings with the Mighty McMuffin, which is making its debut for Christmas 2022. However, the brand has decided it’s not just for Christmas, so it’s back for another three months.
In addition to the new menu items, McDonald’s is also raising prices on several customer favorites, including its black and white coffees.
