A fat cat living on the street has become the top tourist attraction in a Polish city.
Tourists visiting the medieval city of Szczecin have swapped historical sites and museums for a guided tour with Gacek, a black-and-white cat.
Szczecin, in northwestern Poland and near the border with Germany, offers visitors numerous tourist attractions, including the Pomeranian Duke’s Castle and Kasprowicza Park.
But the Moggy, which even has its own Instagram page and section on Google Maps, has surpassed them with its near-perfect five-star rating.
According to local residents, Gacek, whose name means “big-eared bat” in Polish, first appeared on Kaszubska Street in central Szczecin ten years ago.

He rose to fame in 2020 after local news website wSzczecinie posted videos of him.
He is said to have hung out with tourists who fell in love with him and fed him treats, turning him into the fat cat he is today.
According to Notes From Poland, some people are concerned about his safety and have criticized those who caused his weight gain.
But it seems that the “King of Kaszubska Street” is content to live in his wooden box in front of a shop whose owners take care of him.
A sign hangs outside his home telling passersby not to pet him when he’s sleeping and to give him a treat or two when he’s out.
According to locals and tourists, Gacek is a “fantastic handsome and beautiful fellow”, but he tends to scratch or steal food when he is in a bad mood.
