If a few days ago we discovered 11 must-know corners in Valencia, we’re not going too far today and stay in the Valencian Community to do the same in another major city: Alicante
That is why today we want to know what places in the city we must visit in order to be able to say that we know it, and I assure you all this without prejudice to the fact that there is much more.
Santa Barbara Castle

We start with the Santa Bárbara castle, one of the symbols of the city of Alicante, which we find right in the heart of the city. In fact, from Postiguet beach we can see the profile of what is known as the Moor’s face and then get a great panoramic view of the city from above.
Central Market

It must be admitted that visiting the Central Market of a city is always a good idea because it gives us a lot of tips about all the good things about that city’s gastronomy, people and much more. In Alicante, however, we also find buildings like these with a modernist inspiration that have become a monument to the city and also pay homage to the more than 300 victims of the May 1938 bombing in the area during the Civil War.
Las Cigarreras Cultural Center

Another point worth seeing in Alicante is, Las Cigarreras Cultural Center It was created in Tabacalera, which was popular at the beginning of the 19th century. A truly magnificent architectural ensemble where legendary cigars are no longer made, but instead home to a space-worthy cultural centre.
Town hall

One of the sights you can’t miss on your visit to Alicante is the Town Hall at night with the backlit Santa Bárbara Castle. This is definitely a show.
Plaza de los Luceros

There are many squares we can visit in Alicante such as Plaza Gabriel Miró, Portal de Elche, Canalejas park, but one of the most iconic is, Plaza de los Luceros right in the center and Fogueres de Sant Joan, where typical shows of Alicante’s big festivals are held.
Santa Maria Basilica

In the historic center of the city (which we’ll have to visit), we find the 14th-century Basilica of Santa María, the oldest religious building in the city of Alicante. It is built on the ruins of the largest Islamic mosque in Alicante and is worth a visit, such as the San Nicolás Co-Cathedral or the Santa Cruz and San Roque retreats.
Spain Esplanade

And of course, you can’t miss the hiking. Spain Esplanade It is one of the emblems of the city of Alicante, thanks to its more than 6 million tricolor marble tiles imitating sea waves and running parallel to one of the port quays. Of course, don’t forget to take a look at the beautiful Casa Carbonell while walking.
beaches

And of course we cannot leave Alicante without seeing its beaches. In this sense, one or the other will tell us, depending on whom we ask. San Juan Beach, Cabo de la Huerta, Almadraba, Albufereta coves, Postiguet Beach and Saladares-Urbanova Beach, Agua Amarga Beach (Beach for dogs)… There are so many to choose from and each one has great appeal.
