Tom Cruise, 64, stripped off for a smouldering GQ photoshoot published Tuesday, opening up about his "intense" personality and declaring that movies are his "life" in a rare interview.
The Mission Impossible star looked every inch the Hollywood superstar in the glossy magazine images, posing in an unbuttoned black shirt and jeans.

Cruise is notoriously private and rarely speaks to the press, but this week he was keen to open up about his work and career, which includes roles in Top Gun, Eyes Wide Shut and Jack Reacher. He can next be seen in Mexican filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu's movie Digger, in which he plays an ultra-wealthy oil tycoon battling to save the world from a global environmental disaster he accidentally unleashed himself.
Cruise on His Reputation for Intensity
Speaking to the publication, Cruise, known for doing most of his own action movie stunts, discussed his dedication and passion for his film work as well as his reputation for intensity.

"Look, I work hard, and people that work with me, they know. I expect a lot and I'm up-front about it. It's like: 'The rumors are true. And do you want this?'" he said.
"Even when I was a kid, they were like, 'Oh, come on, Tom. You're so intense.' I'm like, 'I don't know what to say. I am intense.'"

"When I'm interested in something, I want to learn it. I want to understand it. And you want to blast through the confusion and kind of build up that ability," he continued, adding of his all-encompassing attitude towards his job: "Making films is not what I do. It is who I am."
Cruise Stays Quiet on His Personal Life
Cruise, who has had high-profile relationships with the likes of Katie Holmes, Nicole Kidman and Hayley Atwell, didn't delve into his personal life during the chat.

Cruise and Holmes began dating in 2005 and divorced in 2012. They share a daughter, Suri, 20.
In July this year, it was revealed that Suri had legally dropped her estranged father's last name. The college student changed her name from Suri Cruise to Suri Noelle, taking her mother's middle name as her surname.

Suri registered to vote in Pennsylvania, where she attends Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, in October 2024, using the name Suri Noelle, according to voter registration records obtained by The Daily Mail. Pennsylvania residents are required to register to vote using their legal name.
Suri registered in Allegheny County, though she did not file a name change request there, suggesting she may have done it in New York before leaving for college, according to Page Six, which was first to report the news.

Estrangement Linked to Scientology Split
The Daily Mail reached out to representatives for Cruise and Holmes for comment at the time. Cruise has reportedly been completely estranged from his daughter for years following his 2012 divorce from Holmes, 47, and her decision to cut ties with Scientology.
Suri is following in the footsteps of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's children, four of whom have also filed to drop their famous father's last name amid an ongoing estrangement.
Before moving to Pennsylvania, Suri lived with her mother, who is currently romancing artist Jason Bard Yarmosky, 39, in New York, where name change records are typically sealed to protect privacy.
