Taylor Swift fiddled with her diamond wedding rings while watching her husband Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Denver Broncos on Monday evening, sitting just feet away from Tom Cruise.
Swift was in the VIP suite at Arrowhead Stadium alongside Kelce's brother and mother, as well as the Hollywood star, when a fan account on Instagram captured her looking down and spinning her rings on camera.
According to Psychology Today, women often play with their wedding rings as a form of self-soothing behavior, a habit used to calm stress, release nervous energy or manage anxiety.
Kelce proposed to Swift last year with a vintage-inspired engagement ring from jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry.
The Engagement Ring and Wedding
The ring features a large Old Mine Brilliant Cut diamond, roughly 10 carats, set on a custom-engraved yellow gold band. When the couple wed in early July, Kelce added a wedding band to Swift's ring finger.
Tom Cruise Conversation Decoded by Lipreader
Television viewers were curious about what Swift and Cruise were discussing after ESPN's cameras caught the pair deep in conversation during the broadcast.
Nicola Hickling, an expert analyst and professional lipreader who founded LipReader, told the Daily Mail she was able to work out what was said between the pop star and the actor. "It's the structure of the entire infrastructure of the audience that's what I love in a positive way," Swift said, according to Hickling.
The first part of Cruise's reply was lost when ESPN switched cameras, but Hickling picked up his words moments later.
"You may not know it, but you do have a job," Cruise told Swift, who placed her drink down, nodded and replied, "right." Cruise then added, "I told her to stick to one and that it's the last time," prompting another nod of approval from Swift. The identity of an unnamed woman referenced in the exchange remains unclear, though the conversation appeared friendly and professional.
Celebrating Kelce's Record
Swift was later seen celebrating wildly in the suite, hugging her mother, Andrea, after Kelce surpassed Jason Witten for career receiving yards among tight ends. "Yes, oh my God," Swift said. Witten, a former Dallas Cowboys tight end, had previously held that career mark.
Swift also placed her hands on her hips and repeated, "Come on, come on, come on," before high-fiving Cruise and sharing a hug with the 64-year-old actor and producer.
Family and Friends in the Suite
Swift, 36, was surrounded by a full entourage of friends and family at the game. Her father, Scott, sat on her other side wearing a bright red Chiefs sweater despite being a longtime Philadelphia Eagles fan. Kelce's mother, Donna, was also seen in the suite, which was filled with members of the NFL star's inner circle.
Cruise, known for the Mission: Impossible and Top Gun film franchises, has no known ties to the Chiefs or any NFL team as a fan, though he has had cinematic connections to football in the past.
